Beside commercial software packages there is also a number of free tools that support IFC. Tools include viewer to visualize an IFC model, often in conjunction with showing the project structure and the properties of objects, text browser to show the original IFC file for debugging, converter to convert project data from/to other file formats, and syntax checker to check the formal validity of IFC files.
